TeAchnology is a website in which teachers can post classroom resources for other teachers to use. All of the materials on the website are divided into categories based on subject matter, and then again based on age level. The social studies resources are divided by kindergarten- 3rd grade, 3rd grade-6th grade, middle school, and high school. Upon clicking one of these categories there are a great number of specific lesson plans which are organized alphabetically. In addition to these lesson plans there are also specific links to only United States History Lessons and only World History lessons. Besides just covering History, the website also provides resources for lesson ideas on the social studies related topics of civics, elections and voting, government, Native Americans, and community helpers. Once a specific topic link is clicked on there is a brief description provided for each lesson plan. Therefore you do not have to waste time clicking on multiple lesson plans to find one that is more specific because there is a brief explanation next to the link. The other thing that impressed me was that this website provides descriptions and links which feed out of many different teaching websites. Each link takes you directly to a lesson plan that can be from a variety of different places. This will help create diversity in your lessons because it is from a variety of sources and teaching styles.
Another great feature of the TeAchnology website is that it also provides links to worksheets and teaching themes. If you cannot find a lesson plan that suits what you are teaching, you may be able to find a worksheet pertaining to your topic of study that you can build a lesson plan off of. Teaching themes is another great resource to have access to. Under the themes in this section it provides you with an entire page of resources. There is clipart to show students visual information regarding the topic, other great websites to bring background knowledge into your classroom, and also worksheets. In addition, it provides links to hands-on interactive things for your students to use that is specific to your topic. There are links to webquests, interactive student learning sites, and pre-created hands-on activities to use within the classroom. This website features and provides many elements that are important for a successful and interesting classroom experience.
