"Digital History" is an amazing history website that has resources for teachers and students alike. One section of the website features primary documents. The Primary Sources section includes famous court cases and historic Supreme Court decisions, links to key documents in American history, and historical newspaper articles.
The For Teachers section of the website includes many resources for educators such as handouts and fact sheets on various history topics and even whole lesson plans. Resource guides in the For Teachers section gives charts, chronologies, film guides, newspapers, maps, quizzes, readings, speeches, primary sources, maps, and music for different time periods through history.
Digital History also has an Interactive Timeline that students would find interesting. The timeline spans from 1590 to present day 2011. The viewer drags the "Life Span Bar", and different shapes show up on a map. The different shapes represent different events. A triangle is a social or economic event, a square is a political or diplomatic event, and a circle is a cultural event. To see what the event is, the viewer clicks on the shape. This timeline is unique and shows students the progression of social, political, and cultural events throughout history in the world. Every resource on Digital History is free; I definitely recommend this website for history educators and history students, and I am certain that I will be using this website.
