Teachers Network

Teacher's network is a website that could be used by any teacher no matter what they are teaching. It is a resource that you can upload or view others lessons plans. All of the lesson plans are categorized by grade and subject. Most of the links connect you to other websites, uploaded lesson plans, or websites designed by teachers specific to certain history lessons. I was able t view many pages that were specific to the Holocaust, World Wars and many others events throughout history. Each independent link has a title, the grade level, a description of the lesson, and what students will be expected to do in this specific lesson plan. The home page states that the goal of this particular website is to introduce teachers to technology-based lessons that both integrate technology into the lesson for the teacher and student.

I believe that after taking some of the technology classes we are required to take at U of I, this is a great resource for future teachers. History teachers in particular, struggle with how to introduce technology into the classroom because most history comes from books and is written. However, with most students using computers regularly, it is more engaging to use the resources and technology available to create a better classroom.

Another great thing about this website is that it is internationally based. Grade equivalents from around the world are available through this website, and they offer lesson plans from all over the world. This is a great way to introduce diversity within the classroom and add elements of culture into your classroom. In CI 401 and 402 we are taught to include diversity into each and every lesson, and understand that we are going to have students of all different learning abilities, cultural backgrounds, and racial backgrounds. Many websites that I viewed while trying to find this site did not offer anything like this, making this one really stand out.

In my opinion, this is a great website. It is easy to use, very self-explanatory and offers teachers a free resource for lesson plans when they may be at lost for something new to use within their class. Another great thing about this website is that teachers create everything offered on the website. Many websites offer ideas for the classroom that are not possible, because they were not written or developed by real teachers. All of the lesson plans come with a bio on the teacher, so you can see how accountable they are for their lessons. You’re also able to give feedback or post how the lesson worked for you.
