The History Channel website provides both teachers and students with the opportunity to find easily accessible videos, documents, and many other relevant documents that can be used to enhance the classroom. It is important to incorporate diverse topics in the classroom and create variety in how the class is being taught. The material found throughout the website can be relevant for many different grade levels. There is an approximate grade level for the material found on the website, and as teachers we can use prior judgment to see what material can work well in our classrooms.
This website also allows both teachers and students to stay ahead on current events. It gives detailed videos and descriptions on events currently taking place and gives yearly anniversary dates of major events in our world’s history. When students browse a website like this they will learn valuable information without even realizing. As teachers, this is a valuable website to browse frequently so we can remain creative in our classroom lesson plans but also stay involved in what is going on currently. Depending on what is being taught, a lot of the television programs can be recommended or shown in class. Students want to learn on a daily basis and by watching programs that are both entertaining and informative will prove to be effective for everyone involved. Regardless of how a teacher uses this website, it can have very valuable effects on the students.
Overall I have found this website to be useful in our limited times in the classroom. It is a great learning tool that keeps the students entertained and still learning. I think this could be a very effective tool to use in middle school when introducing new topics, and even just to watch as a teacher to see if we can learn anything from the videos. It is also can be valuable at the high school level when it’s necessary to change the path of the classroom. However, the website is used can be valuable to everyone.
