As I was looking for a website that would be useful to social studies teachers I came across a website titled, History Teacher.net. This website is useful for social studies teachers whether they are teaching an AP class or a regular class. This website is also useful for government classes as well, which I think is really helpful because as social studies teachers we may be asked to teach more than just a regular history class. Therefore, if we are asked to teach a government class, this website will come in handy.
There are a lot of things on this website that we as social studies teachers will be able to use in order to enhance the learning in our classrooms. For example, there is one section titled, History through Film. This link provides social studies teachers with valuable film resources that we can use in our history classes. I think that this is a very important link because as social studies teachers we sometimes show films in our history classes as supplements to the readings. Through this website, we will be able to find better ways to incorporate historical films into our lesson plans. There is also a section on the website that provides teachers with sample questions that they can use as assessments for students. The questions are broken up into different topics so all teachers have to do is find the topic in which they are giving a lesson on and click on the topic. The sample questions will then be under that topic. This can be very useful for first year teachers because they may have a hard time creating questions for assessments on certain topics. However, by going to this website first year teachers will not have to worry about that problem anymore.
